What Our Nights (& Days) Look Like These Days (Part 2)

These days our nights are going better (and then a little worse and then a little better again). Grayson has started "sleeping through the night", which means that we usually put him down between 11-11:30 p.m. and then (most nights) he doesn't wake up again until 5:00 a.m. or later. Since he's been reliably sleeping through the night, we are (finally) transitioning him to his crib in his room. Until now we'd relied on the nature sounds and vibration on his Pack 'N Play in our room.

During the day, Grayson still much prefers to be held when at all possible. He likes to snooze on our shoulders most of the day or he's content in his car seat if we're on the go. I've been trying to set up a napping/eating schedule, but Gray doesn't seem to be quite ready for that yet. Every time I think we're really getting somewhere, things get thrown out the window and we start all over again. Today has been a prime example of that. Little by little Gray is growing up!

Grayson turned two months last week and is weighing in at about 12 pounds. His reflux(?) got better and then worse again and now seems to be doing slightly better again. Due to this last reoccurrence we're not totally convinced that it's reflux that is causing the problems during his feedings. Since we aren't sure what else to contribute it to, we're just sticking with what we're doing for now. Despite a few set backs now and then, Gray is continuing to grow like a weed.

Here are a couple of pics to compare Gray from his 1 month to his 2 month birthday.

Last Saturday Ben and I took Grayson swimming for the first time. Aunt Holly and Uncle Mark found Gray Boy an adorable swimming outfit and invited us over to their pool to swim. Gray did great! He stayed in his floaty in the pool for about 20 minutes and seemed to love every minute of it. We waited to go swimming until about 8:30 p.m. which proved to be the perfect time: the sun was almost down and it was the perfect temperature. We can't wait to take him to the pool again soon!

Ben's First Father's Day

This past weekend Ben, Grayson and I celebrated Ben's first Father's Day. Ben has a great day that started, first and foremost by getting to sleep in a little later than he's used to these days. Grayson was sweet enough to "sign" Ben's card with an ink printing of his hand. After relaxing at home for the morning, the three of us headed to (gulp) Poncho's Mexican Buffet. There's not a lot that can be said for the food, but at least they still have the cool little flag for service. Here are a few pics.

Where does the time go?

The last 8 weeks since Gray has been here have flown by in a flash! SO let's try to figure out where the time went:

In May, Wes, Penny, and Liv came to meet Gray. Sadly, Gray slept through their entire visit! However, since then, Gray has started to wake up more and more and can't wait to get to play with Liv again in July.

Also, I went back to work for 3 days to clean up my room and say good-bye to my students before summer. Going back to work those 3 days was pretty chaotic, but luckily Ben and Gigi stayed with Gray so I didn't have to worry about him too much.

For Dad's birthday at the beginning of June, Ben, Gray, and I went on our first road trip to Houston to visit Poppi and Mama Jo. While we were there Grayson also got to meet his cousins Kylan and Jayton and Gentry Bass. Gray Boy did great traveling and seemed to enjoy his first overnight trip! We're looking forward to more trips in the near future.

Since returning home from Houston, we switched pediatricians and are very happy with the change so far! It seems that Gray may have reflux issues, but he's eating extra to make up for it. At his 2 month appointment, Gray weighed 11 pounds 2 ounces and measured 23 1/2 inches long. That puts him in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for length. So, besides battling a little heartburn, he seems to be healthy and happy these days.

Just this past Saturday, Greg, Janie and Lucky met us for dinner in Grapevine, during which Lucky and Gray decided that Gray needs a fish shirt to match his cousin. :)

And last but not least, Ben and I made the decision that I will be staying home full-time this fall. I had been going back and forth on whether or not to stay home ever since Gray was born, but all the reasons that kept me going back have melted away one by one. I will be a little sad to say good-bye to my friends and students at school, but I am so looking forward to being home with Gray too.

Whew, what a whirlwind of a month!
